OUR CAST & CREW

Shooting Magic in a Magical Setting

We couldn't have made Don Barry without the patience, enthusiasm and beauty of the people of Guanajuato. Werner Herzog and Bruce Chatwin held long talks about the ways in which landscapes can prove cathartic; this city and its rugged surroundings is such a landscape.

Don Barry was shot with a tight crew on the streets of Guanajuato, Mexico. Pia Siliceo Trueba was our able production manager.  Haydn West was our DP, working with Ramon Izaguirre and Ashley Fell on lighting and other needs. Pamela Casasa provided for all our sound needs. Andrea Lawless and Jordifonsek Abig handled logistics and data management. Paula Reyes-Perez, Celia Merit and Ximena Figueiredo created costumes and Angel of Factotum Escena Leon created the set for Barry's bedroom.  Isabel Campanha Rojana edited everything. Terminal Films handled post production.

Our cast was Barry Gerson and Genda Monter, plus Senor Muerte (gracias, Angel), the designer ladies from Agitadoria, and the wonderful Bernarda Trueba. Dancers included Montse Alba, Ana Sofia Lopez Vera, Fer Arroga, Bianca Gonzalez, Humberto Caceres, Fer Figueroa, Ileana Carolina Espinala, Juan Martin Corona Guerrero and Kristina Zamora. Nico Alcatel and Sebastien Fletcher played the young Barry. Radio veteran Phil Grant is the film's narrator.

We shot in a relaxed manner, allowing all our cast and crew creative input into the ways in which we shot in our city's streets, documentary-style. We took lengthy comidas together, bonded. Stayed focus on the magic that arose even when scripted expectations were not met. The idea was to escape the artifices that have invaded so much of our lives, to capture reality on screen, even when that reality was working with words from our first great modern fiction writer.

I thank my friends for their support, and my family for having my back. I thank the City and State of Guanajuato, and Mexico, for providing such welcome.
